2009 Tryouts Have Taken Place
About our Travel League Northwest Diamonds Traveling Program is more competitive than House ball and requires a larger commitment of time and effort. Traveling teams are formed through an try-out process that creates a minimum of two teams, which are tiered to form an “A” and “B” team. If there are both a sufficient number of interested players and talent, a third tier, or “C” team my be added. The NW Diamonds traveling season begins at the end of April, and runs through the end of July. Traveling teams typically practice twice weekly, and depending on the age level, plays double header games. The 10U level has one double header a week while the rest of the teams have 2 nights of double headers every week. Games are played across the Northern Suburbs. They also play in up to 6 weekend tournaments during the season. These tournaments can be, and have been, out-State. Tournaments allow the girls to qualify for National tournament births. The coaches choose which tournaments the team will play in. Time Commitment Inherent to the success of the NW Dimaonds Traveling Program is the level of dedication and commitment of the participants. Participation in the NW Diamonds Traveling Program DOES REQUIRE A GREATER LEVEL OF COMMITMENT than NW Diamonds House League. We strongly recommend both parents and potential players to consider their schedules and conflicts before trying out for traveling softball. If players and parents have a clear idea of the level of obligation the Traveling Program demands, and are able to plan ahead to meet those obligations, it alleviates the stress caused to both the player and the team when a player misses practices, games or even tournaments. Please keep in mind that attendance at practice is as important as tournament games. |
